Vol. 268 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Street Guide.

100.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware that Dublin Corporation has decided to remove the Pathfinder Street Guide at Aston Quay and Westmoreland Street and to refuse permission for the erection of a similar guide map at the traffic island at College Street/Westmoreland Street; and if he will have these decisions reversed.

Appeals under the Local Government (Planning and Development) Act, 1963 have been submitted to me against decisions of the Dublin Corporation to refuse permission for the retention of a Pathfinder Street Guide at the corner of Aston Quay and Westmoreland Street and for the erection of Pathfinder City Guide Maps at the traffic island, College Green and outside the Bank of Ireland, Westmoreland Street.

In view of my statutory function in the determination of appeals under the said Act, it would not be proper for me to comment on the matter at this stage.

How long does the Minister think it will take him to process these matters?

It will not take much longer. The appeals were lodged on 17th August, but no grounds were set out and, accordingly, no action was taken. They have been asked to furnish the grounds and if I had that information I would decide very quickly.

Is there no time limit?

That is another provision which was left out of the last planning Act.
