Vol. 269 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Grassmeal Production.

40.

Mr. Kitt

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries if he will encourage the production of grassmeal in view of the high price and shortage of animal and poultry foodstuffs.

The encouragement of the production of grassmeal will be considered in the context of the recent proposals for the improvement of the Common Agricultural Policy of the Community which is at present under examination.

Mr. Kitt

Is the Parliamentary Secretary aware that Gowla farm, which is operated by the Sugar Company in my parish in my constituency, has orders for a considerable amount more than it can produce for the home and export market, and will he bear that in mind when the proposals he has mentioned are put into operation?

That is being borne in mind by the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries.
