Vol. 269 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Airport Road.

27.

asked the Minister for Local Government when it is intended to complete the road from Dublin city to Dublin Airport via Santry.

I am not in a position to indicate when the proposals at present being developed by Dublin County Council and Dublin Corporation for a new road serving this route will be carried out. Considerable progress has been made with the planning of the section in the county from the city boundary via Santry to the Airport. Provision has also been made for certain measures being undertaken by both authorities to improve traffic movement on the existing route.

Would the Minister not agree that the delay in introducing motorways legislation has been the principal cause of this delay?

That is a separate matter.

Deputy Burke is quite correct. It is one of the principal causes.

You were there for 37 years and it was not done.

(Interruptions.)
