Vol. 270 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Charolais-cross Bulls.

16.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries if he will sanction the higher rate of payment under the brucellosis eradication scheme for Charolais-cross bulls.

The existing arrangement for payment up to the higher maximum compensation limit for reactors applies only to pedigree cattle and accordingly cross-bred animals do not qualify. I do not propose to alter this arrangement.

I give notice that I wish to raise on the Adjournment the Government's proposals to establish diplomatic relations with the USSR in view, particularly, of the deportation of Alexander Solzhenitsyn from the USSR.

The Chair will communicate with Deputy O'Kennedy.

17.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries if he will establish an inspection centre so that Charolais-cross bulls may be presented for inspection in County Clare.

A centre for the inspection of Charolais-cross bulls will be held in Ennis this year. The date and place of inspection will be announced later.
