Vol. 270 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Dublin Lands.

30.

asked the Minister for Lands when approximately 30 acres of land at Coolquay, The Ward, County Dublin, will be divided.

(Cavan): The holding in question, comprising 37½ acres, is intended for allotment to a migrant who will give up his present lands in exchange.

Pending the completion of the transaction it is intended that the approved allottee will be given possession of the new holding on a temporary basis this spring.

Would it not be better to divide the land among local farmers in this case?

(Cavan): As the Deputy knows, my views on that would not be very relevant because that is a matter entirely for the Land Commission. I understand that this holding originally contained 279 acres and the bulk of the estate has already been allotted as one enlargement, four accommodation plots and four holdings to migrants. The remaining 37½ acre holding was shown to some prospective migrants and has now been allocated to one.
