The making of appointments to posts of responsibility in the schools and colleges concerned is a function of the City of Dublin Vocational Education Committee.
I am not aware of any avoidable delay in the filling of these posts in the present school-year As far as concerns the filling of the posts in the colleges of technology, I understand that certain discussions between the committee and the Teachers' Union of Ireland were considered appropriate before the posts should be advertised and that these discussions have recently been completed.
Has the Minister any function in the matter of these appointments?

I understand that the committee considered that, before advertising the posts, it would be appropriate to have certain discussions in regard to them with the Teachers' Union of Ireland and that the discussions were more protracted than anticipated.
