Vol. 271 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Detective Crime Patrols.

13.

asked the Minister for Justice why it has been decided to cut back on the strength of detective crime patrols.

I want to state, for the record, that the question is misleading in its implications, but I would not be prepared to comment on any arrangements made by the commissioner in relation to the deployment of detective strength because it would not be in the public interest to reveal what they are. Any arrangements made are made with a view to achieving the most effective use of the available manpower and are subject to constant review.

This question arises from a report in The Garda Review where it was said this cut-back had taken place.

I am not so aware.
