Vol. 271 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Reconstruction Grants.

88.

asked the Minister for Local Government the reason for the delay in allocating a reconstruction grant to a person in Crumlin, Dublin (details supplied); and if such a grant will be allocated in this case.

This application is being considered under the provisions relating to the payment of grants where a previous grant has been paid within the preceding 15 years. Such grants are available for works occasioned by something outside the control of the applicant which are urgently necessary for the conservation of the house. Since the works in question were completed before my Department's inspector called to the house the county council were asked for a report on the condition of the house prior to the commencement of work. They recently confirmed that the work carried out was necessary and I am therefore accepting it for grant purposes. My Department's inspector has been asked to prepare the necessary grant allocation.

asked the Minister for Local Government the reason for the delay in allocating a reconstruction grant to a person in Blanchardstown, County Dublin (details supplied); and if a grant will be allocated in this case.

My Department's inspector called to this house on 20th February but the applicant's wife did not wish to have the inspection carried out at that time. Arrangements have been made to have the house inspected this week.
