Vol. 272 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Louth TV Reception.

50.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the steps being taken to improve RTE reception in Carlingford and district, County Louth.

Carlingford district is one of many included in RTE's programme for improving reception. It is expected that the programme as a whole will take at least four years to complete. It is not possible to say at this stage when Carlingford will be attended to.

Would the Minister take all necessary steps to speed up the plans for Carlingford? I am sure he will accept that it is hardly just to require people to pay television licences where reception is so bad as to be almost non-existent?

I will see that the Deputy's representations are brought to the notice of the authority in connection with their general plans.
