Vol. 272 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Consumer Price Index.

3.

asked the Taoiseach the number of items, if any, on the consumer price index which have not increased in price since February, 1973.

The latest consumer price index relates to mid-February, 1974. There were ten items in that index calculation for which the average price showed a decrease when compared with mid-February, 1973.

Can the Parliamentary Secretary give us some idea of the items concerned?

The items are: sirloin steak, potatoes, carrots, cabbage, white plain flour, white self-raising flour, brown wholemeal flour, rent— including rates of rented dwellings— rates of owner-occupied dwellings and medicines and drugs.
