Vol. 272 No. 7

Written Answers. - Cabinet-type Heaters.

63.

asked the Minister for Finance (a) the number of cabinet-type heaters imported between 1st January, 1972 and 10th March, 1974 (b) the country of origin and date of each such importation (c) the total amount of duties paid on such imported heaters (d) the normal rates of duty applicable to such heaters from their respective countries of origin and (e) the amount of revenue which would have accrued to customs and excise if such heaters had been subject to the normal rates of duty.

It is not possible from available statistics to give the information sought by the Deputy about imports of cabinet-type heaters. Compilation of this information would entail a disproportionate expenditure of time and labour. As regards rates of duty applicable to such heaters these may come under any one of a large number of tariff headings depending, for example, on type of fuel used, material of which made and whether for domestic or non-domestic use. If the Deputy would furnish further information in this regard, I will arrange to have an answer supplied on this point of the question.
