Vol. 272 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Beef Sales.

25.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries the amount of money invested in the promotion of beef sales (a) in the United Kingdom and (b) elsewhere and in which countries.

(Cavan): Since Coras Beostoic agus Feola was set up in January, 1969, to promote exports of cattle and sheep in live or dead form, sums totalling £1,539,300 have been made available by my Department to that body up to 31st March, 1974.

I am informed that about 75 per cent of their expenditure in that period has been directed towards promotion of exports to the United Kingdom. The promotion undertaken by Coras Beostoic agus Feola outside the United Kingdom has been mainly in Germany, Italy, France and Netherlands.
