Vol. 273 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Water Supply Schemes.

76.

asked the Minister for Local Government the present position regarding the proposed Kilteely group water scheme, County Limerick.

My Department have asked the group to complete survey sheets so that their total daily water requirements may be assessed. I understand that Limerick County Council are investigating a possible source of supply for the group.

77.

asked the Minister for Local Government if tenders have been submitted to his Department by Donegal County Council in respect of Manorcunningham water supply scheme; and if a tender has been sanctioned.

Tenders in respect of this scheme have not been submitted to my Department to date.

Would the Minister be concerned that, according to the information circulated to these long-suffering people awaiting even the start of a water supply in Manorcunningham, the delay is on the part of the Department rather than somebody else?

That information is entirely incorrect. Tenders for civil works were invited on 19th March, 1974. Closing date was 26th April, 1974 and it was understood, on the 28th May, 1974, that the tenders received are at present being examined by the consultant.

When were they received?

I understood the information was received on 28th May, 1974, that is two days ago. The tenders received are at present being examined by the consultant.

One would need a little bomb all the way along to get anything done.

I suggest that Deputy Cunningham is in the right place to put the bomb.

78.

asked the Minister for Local Government the present position regarding extensions to Malin Head water supply scheme, County Donegal.

The local authority's submissions on the tenders for this extension scheme were received in my Department today.
