Vol. 273 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Army Barrack Accommodation.

12.

asked the Minister for Defence if he has any proposals for the purchase of Mungret College, Limerick for use as an army barracks to replace the outdated accommodation at Sarsfield Barracks.

No such proposals have been under consideration in my Department. The availability of the property referred to has been brought to my notice.

Is the Minister aware that the Limerick papers in the last few days have it that Mungret College has been taken over by the Army, with the approval of the Minister for Finance and given to the Minister for Defence to act accordingly?

I have not seen the Limerick papers. I have seen some comments in the daily papers and the position is exactly as I have outlined.

I am glad to hear it. I hope the Limerick papers will now realise they were sold a pup, but not by the Minister.
