Vol. 274 No. 1

Written Answer. - Unemployment Benefit.

59.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare the reason for the delay in payment of unemployment benefit to an applicant (name supplied) in Wicklow town.

This person was in receipt of unemployment benefit when by a decision of a deciding officer he was disqualified for a period of six weeks from 2nd April, 1974, on the ground that he refused an offer of suitable employment. On 15th May he furnished grounds of appeal against that decision. Following an oral hearing of the appeal on 11th June, 1974, an appeals officer found in his favour. Part payment of the benefit due as a result was made on 21st June and the balance due to date was paid a week later.

The remaining questions will appear on tomorrow's Order Paper.
