Vol. 274 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Nurses' Training School.

4.

asked the Minister for Health when it is proposed to extend the County Hospital, Castlebar, County Mayo so that a nurses' training school may be provided.

I would refer the Deputy to my reply to a previous question by him in May, 1973. As I then informed him, An Bord Altranais and my Department have approved in principle the establishment of a nurses' training school at the County Hospital, Castlebar, and accommodation for the school is provided for in the Western Health Board's five year development plan for the hospital. The plan envisages that developments will be carried out in two stages, the first stage to be completed by 31st March, 1976, and the second stage by 31st March, 1978. Accommodation for the nurses' training school will be provided in the second stage, which is scheduled to commence in 1976.
