Vol. 274 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Garda Duty Tours.

32.

asked the Minister for Justice the reason for the introduction of split tours of duty by the Garda Síochána; and the locations in which this system applies.

Mr. R. Burke

Split tours of duty have been a feature of Garda service for many years. It is left to local Garda officers to decide, in the interests of police efficiency, whether and when to operate split tours of duty, having regard to the work to be done and the availability of personnel. Particulars are, therefore, not recorded in Garda Headquarters as to the extent to which the system has been operated in recent times.

Question No. 33 postponed.
