Vol. 274 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - ESB Bills.

7.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power if he is aware of frustration among the residents of the Oldcourt and Fassaroe Park estates in Bray, County Wicklow, with the high ESB bill demands; and whether his Department can offer some aid to enable them to meet these bills.

I am informed by the ESB that they have received two deputations representing the residents of the Oldcourt and Fassaroe Park estates and, in addition, the district manager and other senior board officials attended a meeting of the residents' association in Bray. On each occasion it was emphasised that the board would enter into arrangements based on personal circumstances and difficulties for the clearance of arrears on electricity accounts. The staff at the ESB's Bray office have been specially augmented to deal with the matter. I regret that there are no funds at my disposal out of which it would be possible to assist these people.
