Vol. 274 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - FEOGA Grant Applications.

55.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries the number of applications for FEOGA grants; and the number sanctioned for payment.

Ninety-nine applications under the 1974 FEOGA grant scheme were forwarded to the EEC Commission by the 30th June which was the final date. The decisions of the Commission on those applications will not be announced until next year.

In the case of the 1973 scheme, for which there were 213 applications, ten projects have already been approved for aid and it is expected that some additional projects will be approved in the near future.

Can the Minister state what projects were approved and how soon he expects approval for the others?

It is a very long list. It is much too long to be given at Question Time. I could let the Deputy have it.

Will the Minister have it incorporated in the Official Report?

How many projects have been approved? Is it ten?

About ten.

Surely it would not be too much for the Minister to read out which ten were approved?

I will have the list circulated with the Official Report.

Is the Minister satisfied that the majority of the 200 applications submitted in 1973 will get favourable consideration?

I hope they will be favourably considered, but we know from our experience that a small percentage of the total will be grant-aided.

Only a small percentage?

Only a small percentage. Every other country has the same experience.

Can the Minister state the total amount of grant aid in money terms in relation to applications under the FEOGA Scheme?

That is a separate question.

For last year?

Approximately half, we hope.

Question No. 56.

Can the Minister state the total amount of money?

No, I do not know the total.

May I ask the Minister——

I have called the next question.

I did not get much opportunity——

I gave the Deputy every facility. That is an unfair allegation.

It is all right.

The following statement gives the ten projects mentioned in the reply: Waterford Co-op; Erris Farm Co-op; Killeshandra Co-op; Gaitee Food Products; Seaborn Ltd; I/A/W/S/ Aerial Topdressing Ltd; N. Connaught Farmers Co-op; J. Duffy Ltd; An Foras Talúntais.
