asked the Minister for Education if he has had any proposals to increase the grants being paid at present to island pupils attending boarding schools.

The amount of special assistance inclusive of the supplemental grant towards the tuition element of the boarding school fee at present payable in respect of all island pupils attending boarding school is being raised from £100 to £115 as from the commencement of the school year 1974-75.

The maximum additional maintenance allowance payable in the case of a necessitous pupil is also being raised from £65 to £70 p.a.
