asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs if he will indicate the various committees under the Council of Ministers of the European Community over which the Government will preside during this country's period of Presidency of the Council; and the chairman of each such committee.

With the permission, of the Ceann Comhairle, I propose to circulate with the Official Reply a list of the committees and working groups coming within the aegis of the Council of the European Communities for which Ireland will be required to provide chairmen during the period of our Presidency—January to June, 1975. The list indicates in each case the Government Department responsible for providing chairmen. Because the work of the Council is an ongoing process some committees and working groups listed may not meet during the period of our Presidency and others may be constituted which are not provided for in the list.
My Department in conjunction with all other Departments and Offices have been carrying out an intensive programme of work in preparation for Ireland's Presidency; this has included the appointing of chairmen to each committee and working group. As the chairmen are likely to change somewhat between now and the end of the year due to staffing changes in Departments and changes in the pattern of work of the Council I think it would be inappropriate at this stage to give the name of the chairman for each committee and working group.
