asked the Minister for Education if, in view of industrial expansion in the Ballina area, he will consider the construction of a national school at Ardnaree, Ballina, County Mayo.

The question of the need for a new school in this area is being investigated by my Department.

382.

asked the Minister for Education when a second teacher will be appointed to Knock national school, Swinford, County Mayo.

The enrolments in Knock national school having fallen below the figures which would warrant the employment of two teachers, the assistant teacher there was placed on the diocesan panel on 1st July, 1974, in accordance with the regulations of my Department and has since taken an appointment in another school.

In order to re-establish the post an average enrolment of 36 pupils would be required. The number on rolls at present is far below that figure.

asked the Minister for Education if he will sanction a grant for repairs to Brusna national school, Ballaghaderreen, County Roscommon.

The Commissioners of Public Works have been asked to advise the Reverend Manager as to the carrying out of any necessary works at Brusna NS, Ballaghaderreen, County Roscommon. My Department will sanction a grant towards the cost of any works which the commissioners may recommend.

asked the Minister for Education when sanction will be given to Mayo Vocational Committee for the purchase of land at Lacken Cross vocational school.

The purchase of land at Lacken Cross vocational school by the County Mayo Vocational Education Committee has been sanctioned.

asked the Minister for Education when sanction will be given to Mayo Vocational Committee for the purchase of land at Claremorris for use as a playpitch, and so on, by pupils at Claremorris vocational school.

My Department are at present awaiting a reply to their request to the committee for further information about this proposed purchase. When the information comes to hand, a decision on the matter will be arrived at as speedily as possible.
