asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the number of Irish-assembled vehicles purchased by his Department over the past 12 months.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the number of fully assembled Renault and other types of vehicles imported by his Department over the past 12 months.

With your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 42 and 43 together. My Department purchased 530 Irish-assembled vehicles over the past 12 months. All of the 238 Renault vehicles purchased were assembled in Ireland. The Department did not import any fully assembled vehicles but purchased 875 foreign assembled vehicles from Irish motor firms.
