Vol. 276 No. 10

Written Answers. - County Cork Unemployment Benefit.

198.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will arrange for the payment of unemployment benefit to a person (name supplied) in County Cork.

When the person in question claimed unemployment benefit on 5th July, 1974, the usual inquiries were made to establish whether he was entitled to benefit. On the facts ascertained, a deciding officer disallowed the claim on the ground that the claimant left his employment voluntarily without just cause and further disallowed it on the ground that claimant failed or neglected to avail himself of a reasonable opportunity of obtaining suitable employment. The claimant appealed against these decisions and, after an oral hearing of the appeal at which he attended and gave evidence, an appeals officer allowed the appeal. Arrangements have been made to have all unemployment benefit due to him paid at Kiskeam Post Office this week.
