Vol. 276 No. 12

Written Answers. - Capital Inflow.

129.

asked the Minister for Finance the amount of capital inflow other than net Government and Government guaranteed foreign borrowing for the year ended 31st March in 1973 and 1974.

As the balance of payments statement, from which net capital inflow figures are derived, is prepared on a calendar year basis, it is not possible to supply figures in the form requested by the Deputy. The capital inflow other than net Government and Government guaranteed foreign borrowing is estimated at £79 million and £39 million for 1972 and 1973 respectively. The corresponding figure for 1974 is likely to be of the order of £100 million, the bulk of which is accounted for by industrial investment.
