asked the Minister for Defence the action he has taken regarding the provision of two extra or special Army battalions at Finner Camp and Dundalk or in the general area of the Border.

As I informed the Deputy in reply to a question on the 21st March last, the two new infantry battalions, the 27th and 28th, with headquarters at Dundalk and Finner Camp, respectively, were activated on 1st September, 1973, and have been engaged on security duties in the Border area since that date.
