Vol. 277 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Army School of Music.

36.

asked the Minister for Defence if he is aware that promotion to NCO, officer and senior officer rank is limited in the Army School of Music and that this militates against recruitment to this service; and if he has any proposals to improve the situation.

The Army School of Music is almost at full strength and I am not aware of any difficulties in regard to recruitment to this unit.

With regard to promotion prospects, the position in regard to officers was reviewed in recent years and may be regarded as satisfactory. In so far as other ranks are concerned the promotion prospects of instrumentalists are at present under review in my Department and decisions in the matter will be taken as soon as possible.
