Vol. 279 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dinish Island Industries.

32.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries if there are any proposals to establish industries on Dinish Island.

A number of proposals for the establishment of industries on Dinish Island are under examination at present.

Can the Parliamentary Secretary state the nature of the proposed industries envisaged for Dinish Island?

I do not think it would be advisable to indicate the nature of the proposals. I can say that BIM are actively promoting the island as a location for industries ancillary to fishing. I do not think it would be reasonable for me to go beyond that at present. The Deputy will appreciate the difficulty of giving names of firms or industrialists who are anxious to establish industries on the island.

Can the Parliamentary Secretary say whether there are any proposals for the construction of an advanced factory in Dinish Island?

Yes, that is under consideration.
