Vol. 279 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Donegal Pier and Harbour.

41.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries whether he will have the slipway at Greencastle pier, County Donegal, improved as a matter of urgency and extended to meet the immediate needs of the local fishermen.

42.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries the plans he has for the extension of Greencastle harbour, County Donegal; and when it is expected that work may commence.

With the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 41 and 42 together as both refer to fishery facilities at Greencastle harbour.

It is not proposed to have improvements carried out at the existing slipway at Greencastle pier, County Donegal. Proposals for large scale improvement works, including the provision of a syncrolift, at Greencastle harbour are being examined by my Department at present. Until this examination has been completed I will not be in a position to make a decision on the various items included in the proposals.
