Vol. 279 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Meath School.

34.

asked the Minister for Education if he will state when a tender will be accepted in respect of the new national school at Oldcastle, County Meath, as the local contribution towards its construction has been paid.

Mr. R. Burke

I understand that agreement has still to be reached with the planning authorities in relation to some outstanding matters before acceptance of a tender can be considered.

When was the advertisement seeking tenders published?

Mr. R. Burke

In January, 1975 the Department were advised by the Chief State Solicitor that there were title difficulties which had then been resolved. We advised the Office of Public Works and it must have been advertised since then.

Was it advertised as far back as May, 1974?

Mr. R. Burke

It could hardly have been if the title had not been cleared up at that point.

Has an application been made to the planning authority?

Mr. R. Burke

There are outstanding difficulties which I referred to in my reply and these have not yet been resolved.

Does the Minister anticipate that these difficulties will take long to solve?

Mr. R. Burke

It would be impossible for me to say. I hope not. I imagine they can be resolved quickly.
