Vol. 280 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Natural Science Graduates.

67.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if, in view of the fact that according to an IDA study (details supplied) £1 million per annum could eliminate the problem of the surplus of persons with degrees in natural sciences, he will state the action he proposes to take in the matter.

The study in question was not carried out by but was sponsored by the Industrial Development Authority. It is of interest to a number of other bodies and Departments such as the National Science Council, the Higher Education Authority, and the Departments of Education and Labour, to which copies have been supplied.

Pending consideration of the study by all these interests and the assesment of certain aspects of it, it is not possible to say what action should be taken in regard to the questions dealt within it.
