Vol. 280 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Galway Workers' Houses.

41.

asked the Minister for Local Government the present position regarding the proposal that the National Building Agency should construct houses for industrial workers at Spiddal, County Galway; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I understand from the National Building Agency that a layout plan for this scheme has been prepared and Gaeltarra Éireann have been asked to clarify the position about sewerage wayleaves for the scheme. When this information is available, the Agency will prepare working drawings and contract documents so that tenders may be invited.

Can I take it that the scheme which has been planned will go ahead, because Gaeltarra Éireann were under the impression there was a stop put to the scheme?

I wonder what gave them that impression?

Can the Minister assure me it will not stop?

It was never indicated by anybody that it would be stopped. I cannot stop people, who want to, from getting ideas.
