Vol. 280 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Waterford Cold Storage Facilities.

44.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries why there are no cold storage facilities at Dunmore East, County Waterford for the storing of fish.

I presume the Deputy has in mind the provision of public cold store facilities. The provision of such facilities at Dunmore East or elsewhere in the State is a matter in the first instance for private enterprise. Assistance is afforded by An Bord Iascaigh Mhara and the Industrial Development Authority in the establishment of such plants and grants are now available for suitable projects.

What question is this?

Question No. 44. We were just passing on to Question No. 45. As the Deputy came in Question No. 44 was answered. Does the Deputy wish to put a supplementary on Question No. 44?

I have a series of questions here. They were transferred from the Department of Finance to the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries. On each of these, Nos. 43, 44 and 45, the previous Administration had taken a decision—the matter does not come to the Office of Public Works until a decision is taken—and apparently now these decisions have been reversed and referred back to the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries for reconsideration.

If the Deputy is seeking information he must be specific. The Minister was about to answer Question No. 45 when the Deputy arrived.
