Vol. 280 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Killybegs Syncrolift.

43.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries why the syncrolift proposed for the dry dock at Killybegs, County Donegal, has not been proceeded with.

The boat-lifting gear for the proposed syncrolift at Killybegs fishery harbour centre has been delivered. It has not been possible to finalise the contract for the associated civil engineering works.

Is this a subcontract?

Apparently it is. The contractor did tender but there has been some difficulty since.

The Minister is aware that without this mechanism the dry dock is of very little use?

I am aware of that.
