Vol. 280 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Small Firms Division.

17.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will consider the creation of a small firms division within his Department.

A small industries programme, geared specifically to meet the needs of small firms, is being operated by the Industrial Development Authority, whose officials maintain close liaison with officers of my Department. My Department is also represented on the small industries committee of the authority as are a number of other State agencies. The interests of small firms are adequately safeguarded by these arrangements and by the normal Departmental activities, and I do not consider it necessary to establish a special small firms division in my Department.
