Vol. 280 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Appointment of Teachers.

28.

asked the Minister for Education if he is aware that, in the case of Saint Paul's College, Sybil Hill, Raheny, Dublin, the effect of his decision to refuse to authorise an increase in the number of incremental posts in the school beyond the present complement will be to leave the school staff short of five teachers and to prevent the enrolment of boys at present in 6th class in Belgrove Boy's National School, Clontarf; and the steps he proposes to take to remedy the position.

29.

asked the Minister for Education if he is aware of the need to provide extra teachers at Saint Joseph's College, Clonkeen Road, Blackrock, County Dublin; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

With the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 28 and 29 together.

In my public announcement of 1st May, 1975, I stated that there will be no change in the school year 1975-76 in the conditions of general application for the appointment of teachers in post-primary schools from those which applied in respect of the current school year.

The number of additional incremental posts which may be authorised for 1975-76 in the schools referred to by the Deputies will be determined on this basis.
