Vol. 281 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Boarding School Grants.

27.

asked the Minister for Education why full boarding school grants have not been paid for 1973-74 and 1974-75 in respect of students (names supplied) attending Coláiste Éinde, Gaillimh.

Mr. R. Burke

The relevant boarding school grant comprises three constituent grants as follows:

(a) Grant in lieu of tuition fee;

(b) Grant in aid of maintenance;

(c) Additional grant in aid of maintenance in respect of a necessitous pupil.

Eligibility for the additional grant in aid of maintenance in 1973-74 and 1974-75 was related to income limits not exceeding £1,000 and £1,500 respectively.

The rates of grant paid in respect of the students in question were calculated in accordance with the relevant regulations.
