Vol. 281 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Garda Stations.

25.

asked the Minister for Finance if it is proposed to provide new accommodation for the Garda Síochána to replace the existing premises at Irishtown, Dublin; and, if so, when.

Mr. Kenny

The replacement of Irishtown Garda station is at present being considered in consultation with the Department of Justice but it may be some time yet before final plans are made.

Could the Parliamentary Secretary define more closely what "some time yet" means? Will it be a year or two years?

Mr. Kenny

I could not define that. It is rather vague.

Would the Parliamentary Secretary settle for two years?

Mr. Kenny

I would settle for nothing because I do not know.

26.

asked the Minister for Finance when it is proposed to commence extensions to the present Garda station at Ballyfermot, Dublin.

Mr. Kenny

Contract documents for an extension to Ballyfermot Garda station are being prepared and it is hoped to have tenders invited about the end of June. All going well, work should commence in September.
