Vol. 282 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Motor Insurance.

8.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will make a statement on the problem of persons in the middle age group category who find it almost impossible at present to secure motor vehicle insurance on reasonable terms.

There is no evidence available to me to suggest that persons in this age group category are finding it almost impossible to secure motor insurance cover at reasonable terms.

Persons in the middle age group category tend to be regarded by insurers as a more attractive risk than their younger or older counterparts. There has been a general improvement in the motor insurance market situation and my information is that motorists in all categories are experiencing less difficulty than heretofore in obtaining motor cover.
