It is estimated that in the year from the 1st May, 1974 to the 30th April, 1975 expenditure was approximately £21,874,000 on unemployment benefit, £27,412,000 on unemployment assistance, £2,135,000 on pay-related unemployment benefit and £4,344,000 on redundancy payments.
