Vol. 282 No. 7

Written Answers. - County Cork Social Welfare Claimant.

324.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will now arrange to have unemployment benefit or assistance paid to a person (name supplied) in County Cork who has been unemployed for seven weeks.

The person concerned was not paid unemployment benefit on his claim made on 19th April, 1975, as he did not satisfy the contribution condition which requires that not less than 26 employment contributions have been paid or credited in respect of him in the 1973 insurance year. He does, however, satisfy this condition as from the commencement of the current benefit year, that is, 2nd June, 1975, on his contributions in respect of the 1974 insurance year, and unemployment benefit will be paid to him if he furnishes evidence of unemployment from that date. Payment of unemployment assistance due in respect of the period 29th April, 1975, to 27th May, 1975—the last date for which evidence of unemployment has been furnished—has been listed for collection by him during the week which commenced on 21st June, 1975.
