asked the Minister for Education the number and names of the schools in Laois/Offaly about which officials from his Department are negotiating with regard to closures and amalgamation.

Negotiations have recently been taking place regarding eight cases as follows:
(1) amalgamation of Maio national school and Newtown national school, County Laois;
(2) amalgamation of Rushes national school and Arles national school, County Laois from 1st July, 1975;
(3) amalgamation of Gurteen national school and Culloghill national school, County Laois, when new building available;
(4) closing of Trummera national school, County Laois and conveyance of pupils to Mountrath when new accommodation available;
(5) central school to replace Bloomhill national school, Roshina national school and Ballinahoun national school, County Offaly;
(6) amalgamation of Kilclonfert national school and Kilmurray national school, County Offaly, in new central school at Cappagh from 1st July, 1975;
(7) amalgamation of Shannon Harbour national school and St. Rynagh's national school, County Offaly from 1st July, 1975;
(8) amalgamation of Cadamstown national school and Longford national school with Kinnity national school when new accommodation available.
