Vol. 282 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Pedestrian Crossings.

4.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will consider amending the regulations governing approved pedestrian crossings to enable crossings to be provided at places where they are much needed but which at present do not qualify.

No such regulations have been made by me and the second part of the question does not, therefore, arise.

5.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware of the frustration of urban councils in trying to erect pedestrian crossings; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

A decision to provide a pedestrian crossing is a matter for the local authority concerned at the request or with the consent of the Garda Síochána. I am not aware that there is general disagreement with this procedure.
