Vol. 283 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - AnCO and Manpower Service Personnel.

21.

asked the Minister for Labour the number of people employed by AnCO and the National Manpower Service at present.

There are 1,084 people employed by AnCO at present. The National Manpower Service have a staff of 160 personnel.

To cope with present needs is it proposed to extend the staff of the National Manpower Service who are suffering the consequences of the absence of jobs and the difficulties in creating jobs? I am sure the Minister is aware that it is very rough for them at present. In view of that situation and the necessity for extending employment in that sector, would the Minister say if he would consider doubling the staff in the National Manpower Service?

We are increasing the staff.

To what extent?

It will not be doubled but we will certainly be increasing the number very shortly.
