Vol. 283 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Walkinstown (Dublin) Letterbox.

54.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will arrange for the provision of a letterbox at Greenpark Estate, Walkinstown, County Dublin, as requested by the residents.

At its present stage of development, the area concerned is considered to be adequately served by the letterbox at St. James's Road which is a short distance away. The need for additional posting facilities will, however, be kept under close review as development proceeds.

I am afraid I cannot accept this reply. The existing letterbox is a mile or a mile-and-a-half away. Surely the Minister will not tell me that this letterbox is sufficiently close to the residents of this area?

I do not think the Deputy need worry too much. I am informed that an additional letterbox in the area will, it is considered, be warranted before very long. Further development is expected on the south side of the estate, and when this takes place the best position for an additional letterbox will be much clearer, so the decision will be taken then.
