Vol. 284 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Water Schemes.

20.

asked the Minister for Local Government when he proposes to sanction Tourmakeady water scheme, County Mayo.

I cannot say at the present time when I will be in a position to give my decision with regard to this scheme, the contract documents for which are under consideration in my Department.

This is a Gaeltacht area and is the Minister aware that the necessary funds would be supplemented from Department of the Gaeltacht funds? This is a high amenity area and would the Minister give any indication of when money will be available for this scheme?

I could not. As the Deputy is probably aware, this is No. 3 on the priority list in Mayo. There is quite an amount of this kind of work being done in that county and it would be unfair of me to attempt to offer a guess. However, if he likes I will have a look at it and let him know by letter what the likely position is.
