Vol. 284 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Overdue Tax Payments.

41.

asked the Minister for Finance if he is aware that bailiffs are collecting overdue tax payments without due warning; and if his Department will make arrangements to ensure that the people concerned will receive sufficient notice of the bailiffs' intervention.

I am not aware that bailiffs are collecting overdue tax payments without due warning. I am satisfied that under existing arrangements the Revenue Commissioners provide ample warning to tax defaulters of the intention to take legal action including the issue of certificates to sheriffs or county registrars, for recovery of overdue tax.

They are getting very rough now, I can tell you.
