The Industrial Development Authority's advance factories in Portarlington and Edenderry were completed this year and industries are in production in these factories.

The Birr advance factory was completed in April of this year and has been visited in recent months by 18 industrialists. One of these industrialists has expressed an interest in locating a project in the factory and the authority expect to receive a detailed proposal from this industrialist early in September.

The authority have no firm proposal at present for location of a project in the Clara advance factory.

A project had been approved for the advance factory in Tullamore but the promoters have now withdrawn; the factory is being promoted by the authority and being included in itineraries for industrialists. An outline proposal for a project is at present under negotiation with the authority.
