Vol. 285 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Ban-Gharda Uniforms.

16.

asked the Minister for Justice when newly designed and tailored clothes or uniforms will be made available to the Ban-Gharda.

As a result of a request by me the Commissioner has already established a working party representing ban-ghardaí to consider, in consultation with a designer, a new design for Ban-Gharda uniforms. As one might expect in a matter of this kind, it will be some time before the working party will have finalised its recommendations. It has, however, set about its work and will press ahead as quickly as possible.

How long does the Minister think the working party will take?

I do not know. I am not an expert in the design of Ban-Gharda uniforms.

I am sure the banghardaí know what they want.

I think they are represented on the working party.

When they are finished there will be no money.

We will keep the banghardaí dressed.

I hope so.
