Vol. 286 No. 3

Written Answers. - Free School Books.

231.

asked the Minister for Education if all free school books are stamped by the school that issues them with the name of the school.

When books under the free books scheme are given to pupils by way of grant they become the property of the pupils concerned.

In some instances pupils who are not regarded as eligible for an out-right grant under the scheme may be allowed books on loan. I understand that in such cases the books are usually stamped for identification purposes.
